Good to Know
Why can’t I just throw my mattress away in Massachusetts?
Because it has been illegal since November 2022. Massachusetts added mattresses to its list of banned materials, so they cannot go in the regular waste stream or a landfill. That is not a fine print detail — it is the reason a mattress left on a curb without a scheduled recycling pickup often just sits there, and why the property owner ends up responsible for it.
What makes you different from a junk removal company?
We are a BPDA-approved City of Boston vendor for mattress recycling. A city does not hand its mattress waste stream to a contractor without auditing them first — our recycling process, insurance and reliability were all reviewed before the work was awarded. A general junk hauler takes your mattress and charges you; whether it is genuinely recycled afterwards is between them and their conscience. Ours is documented.
How much does mattress pickup cost?
Standard pickup is $79.95 per mattress — that is 20% off our $99.95 list price. Expedited 24-hour pickup is $119.95 (list $149.95). Box springs are $20 each as an add-on. Recycling and disposal are included in those prices — there is no separate tipping fee added at the end.
What days do you pick up?
Monday through Friday only. We do not run mattress pickups on weekends. If you need it gone faster than the standard 3–5 business day window, the expedited option collects within 24 hours on a business day.
Do I need to be home for the pickup?
No. That is rather the point of leaving it curbside the night before. As long as the mattress is accessible from the street on your scheduled date, our crew handles it and you never have to block out an afternoon.
What if it rains the night before?
A wet mattress is heavier but still perfectly recyclable, so the pickup goes ahead. If you would rather keep it dry, wrapping it in plastic is welcome but genuinely not required. Do not let weather stop you putting it out — we would rather collect a damp mattress than reschedule.
Can you take the mattress from inside my house?
Curbside is what the standard price covers. If the item is inside — upstairs, in a basement, in an apartment — call us and tell us the situation before you book. We can usually do it, but it needs to be scoped rather than surprise the crew on the day.
Can I reschedule?
Yes, and there is no charge for it. Give us a call and we will move you to another weekday. What we cannot do is refund a completed pickup, so if plans are uncertain it is better to reschedule than to book and hope.
Do you take box springs and bed frames too?
Box springs, yes — $20 each on top of the mattress price, and they are recycled the same way. Bed frames depend on what they are made of. Ask when you book and we will tell you straight rather than have the crew refuse it on the day.
What actually happens to the mattress after you take it?
It gets dismantled rather than crushed. A mattress is roughly 75% recyclable by weight once you take it apart: the steel springs go to metal recycling, the foam is reprocessed into carpet underlay, the fiber and cotton are recovered, and the timber frame is chipped. That separation is what "recycled to Massachusetts state standards" actually means in practice.
